La Griffe Ausoni – Montreux

“A Montreux non conoscevamo nessuno. Passeggiavamo sul lungolago, guardando i cigni e la moltitudine di gabbiani e gallinelle che si alzavano al nostro avvicinarsi e gridavano, inclinandosi di nuovo verso l’acqua. Passeggiavamo nella via principale di Montreux e ci incuriosivano le vetrine…”

Era il 1917 quando Ernest Hemingway scriveva questi versi. Oggi, quasi un secolo più tardi, mi trovo a Montreux, negli stessi magnifici luoghi da lui descritti. Passeggio anch’io sul lungolago, sola, e osservo i passi lenti della gente felice intorno a me… I cigni sono ancora qui, sulle sponde del lago, li vedo apparire e scomparire dai fiori che colorano tutta la passeggiata e non sembrano temere la maestosità delle Alpi imbiancate dalla neve. Il panorama abbraccia in un unico colpo d’occhio i fiori primaverili e la neve alpina. Un vero e proprio incontro di stagioni. Montreux mi ricorda molto la mia amata Costa Azzurra, ma l’ordine ed il silenzio per le strade la rende un’isola di pace. Capisco ora il motivo per il quale molti artisti hanno in passato scelto la “Perla della Riviera Svizzera” per vivere o semplicemente per villeggiare. Le persone sono gentili anche se poco socievoli e mi colpiscono perchè tutte curate e ben vestite. Passeggio ancora fino alla statua di Freddy Mercury, che qui decise di trascorrere gli ultimi mesi della sua vita, salgo verso il mercato coperto e mi dirigo verso la strada principale in cerca di un vestito da indossare per il Gran Galà che si terrà stasera al Fairmount Palace Hotel. Subito sono attratta da un’immensa insegna che spicca sulla via principale, Grand Rue 2o: è la boutique “La Griffe Ausoni“. Anch’io, come Hemingway, sono incuriosita dalle vetrine ma, a differenza sua, decido di entrare! Abiti per donna, uomo e bambino; abiti per tutte le stagioni e per tutte le esigenze: eleganti, sportivi, casual, rock… Gli stilisti scelti dalla boutique “La Griffe Ausoni” sono decisamente accattivanti: Roberto Cavalli, Max Mara, Missoni, Philipp Plein, Michael Kors, Brunello Cucinelli, Ballantyne, Pearl 1954, Malo… ma la stilista che più attira la mia attenzione è la libanese Zuhair Murad! Inizio a provare i suoi preziosissimi abiti… ricordo di averli visti solo sulle riviste indossati dalle star hollywoodiane. Oh oh, stasera sarò sfacciatamente affascinante e glamour! La scelta è ardua ma, per fortuna, Madame Ausoni, titolare della boutique mi aiuta a scegliere l’abito più adatto a me. Scopro che ha anche un’altra boutique all’interno del Fairmount Palace Hotel, alla Grand Rue 100. Non posso che provare grande stima e ammirazione per una donna che da sola e con grande determinazione è riuscita a far diventare “La Griffe Ausoni” una vera istituzione a Montroex, la città più elegante, chic ed esclusiva della Svizzera. Mi specchio con indosso l’abito di Zuhair Murad che ho scelto per la grande serata e mi volto ad osservare, attraverso l’immensa vetrina della boutique, la moltitudine di gabbiani che volano sul lago…

Out on the lake there were flocks of grebes, small and dark, and leaving trails in the water when they swam. In the town we walked along the main street and looked in the windows of the shops.”

It was 1917 when Ernest Hemingway wrote these words . Today, almost one century later, I am in Montreux, in the same magnificent places he described. I’m walking along the lake, alone, observing the happy people walking slowly all around… The swans are still here, on the lake shore, I see them appear and disappear through the flowers that colour the whole promenade and they don’t seem to fear the majesty of the white Alps. I’m looking at the beautiful spring flowers and the white capped mountains in one eye shot. For the first time I’ve seen one season’s meeting. Montreux reminds me my beloved French Riviera, but the order and silence in the streets make it an island of peace. I understand now the reason why in the past many artists would choose the “Pearl of the Swiss Riviera” to live or just as a holiday resort. The people are friendly, though not very sociable, and strike me because they are really dressed up. Then, I walk to the statue of Freddy Mercury, who decided to spend the last months of his life here, I go to the market hall, and I head towards the high street looking for a dress to wear for tonight’s Grand Gala at Fairmount Hotel Palace. I’m immediately attracted by a huge sign that stands on Grand Rue 20. It is the boutique “La Griffe Ausoni“. Like Hemingway, I’m intrigued by the shop windows, and I decide to get inside. Clothes for women, men and children; clothes for all seasons and for all styles: elegant, sporty, casual, rock… The fashion designers in the boutique “La Griffe Ausoni” are very appealing: Roberto Cavalli, Max Mara, Missoni, Philipp Plein, Michael Kors, Brunello Cucinelli, Ballantyne,  Pearl 1954, Malo, but the designer who most captured my attention is the Lebanese Zuhair Murad! I begin to try on some of these precious clothes… I remember them been worn only by Hollywoodian stars in magazines. Oh oh, tonight I will incredibly be charming and glamorous! The choice is difficult but, fortunately, Madame Ausoni, the owner of the boutique helps me to choose the best one for me. I find out that she also has an another boutique in the Fairmount Hotel Palace, Grand rue 100. I feel admiration for this woman that all by herself managed to make ” La Griffe Ausoni ” an institution in Montroex, the most elegant, chic and exclusive city in Switzerland. I look myself at the mirror while I’m wearing the Zuhair Murad dress I chose for the big night and I turn to look through the huge window of the boutique… the flock of sea gulls is flying over the lake…
